WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY “CLUBHOUSE MODEL”?
The uniquely effective Clubhouse Model was, and remains, the foundation of our work. Our success at building a broad network of partnerships and collaborations has made it possible for us to expand our recovery approach and become a leader in whole-person, integrated care.
The Clubhouse model is:

- A uniquely integrated approach to recovery, combining peer support with a full array of services
- Accreditation based on rigorous compliance (by Clubhouse International, the organizing/accrediting body for Clubhouses worldwide)
- A decades-old, proven person-centered model – now in 340 locations in 33 countries

CAN PEOPLE LIVING WITH MENTAL ILLNESS BE A PART OF THE WORKFORCE?
They absolutely can be! One in five people suffer from at least one mental illness; it could be you or someone you love. But many of these people lead successful, fulfilling lives both in the workforce and at home. Here at Shore House, we recognize that steady employment contributes to a person’s sense of self-worth and a renewed sense of purpose, ultimately leading to improved outcomes for our members via job opportunities.
I WANT TO HELP EITHER MYSELF OR A LOVED ONE LEARN MORE ABOUT MENTAL ILLNESS, BUT I DON’T KNOW WHERE TO START!
The National Alliance on Mental Illness, or NAMI, is a wonderful organization with a very informative website, rich with resources to help you and/or a loved one gain a greater understanding of mental illness, as well as providing you with ways you can help yourself or others struggling with a mental disorder. The site also provides guides for crisis management, in addition to links to other hotlines and websites that can assist those suffering from mental illness. You can access all of this information and more at nami.org. Another great resource is the website of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH): https://www.nimh.nih.gov/index.shtml.
