A Letter from John – Shore House Member
Shore House is a truly unique place that words can’t do justice to. I can’t imagine what my life would be like without Shore House. It’s a place where I can socialize and engage in meaningful work with other members and staff. It’s because of these things that I have a sense of accomplishment, esteem and confidence that I can’t get anywhere else. Shore House is an outlet for constructive action for me where I’ve also found friendships. Shore House has helped me infinitely, in ways both seen and unseen.
If I didn’t have Shore House, I would probably spend a lot of my time alone in my apartment. I would be isolated, which is a bad place for me to be. Isolation would heighten my symptoms of depression, anxiety and paranoia. If severe enough, I could even be hospitalized. Prospects for me would not be good without Shore House. I doubt other members would fare much better without Shore House. Shore House provides us with something that traditional mental health treatments do not.
